Upload your imagery

Files in DroidMap live in asset sets. An asset set is a named group of files in a project, such as the images from one flight. A mapping job takes an asset set as its input and saves its outputs to a new one.

Supported files

Choose an Asset Type when you create the set:

Asset typeUse it for
Drone ImagesPhotos from your flight, ready for a mapping job
LidarLidar data, such as LAS or LAZ files
Map LayersGeospatial files, such as GeoTIFF or GeoJSON boundaries
OtherAnything else you want to keep with the project

For a mapping job, upload your original JPEG or TIFF images. Originals keep the GPS position DroidMap uses to place each image on the map.

Create an asset set

  1. Open your project, go to the Asset Sets tab and click New Asset Set.
  2. Enter an Asset Set Name and choose an Asset Type.
  3. Under File Selection, drag your files in, or click Add files or Add folder.
  4. Check the Image Locations preview. It shows how many images contain position data.
  5. Click Create Asset Set and leave the page open until the upload finishes.

When it's done you'll see Upload Complete.

You don't have to do this first. A mapping job can upload new files as part of its setup.

If an upload is incomplete

An asset set is only complete when DroidMap has received and confirmed every file. Until then, a mapping job that uses it can fail, or can build its results from only some of your images.

What you see depends on where the upload stopped:

  • Confirming uploads: every file has been sent and DroidMap is confirming them. This usually clears by itself. Stop Waiting stops the page waiting, but leaves the set unconfirmed.
  • Upload Incomplete: some files didn't arrive. The Incomplete Files list shows which ones. Click Retry Failed or Resume to send them again.
  • Unconfirmed files: the files were sent but aren't confirmed yet. Click Check Again, or Re-upload Unconfirmed to send them again.

If you close an upload that didn't finish, DroidMap warns you that the set is incomplete and asks what to do with it.

Check before you use a set. The asset picker can list a set that hasn't finished uploading. Open the set first and check that its asset count matches the number of files you uploaded.
